Shane Lowry Fires Record Tying 62 in Third Round of PGA Championship

Irish Professional Golfer inches closer to PGA record

Lowry ties major championship record with bogey-free 9-under 62

Shane Lowry, an Irish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the PGA Tour, fired a record-tying 62 in the third round of the PGA Championship on Saturday. Lowry's 9-under round, which included nine birdies, put him in contention for his first major championship victory.

Lowry's round was one shot off the PGA Championship record of 61, which was set by Jack Nicklaus in 1980. Lowry's 62 is also the lowest round ever shot in the third round of a major championship.

Lowry's performance on Saturday moved him up the leaderboard into a tie for second place, just one stroke behind leader Brooks Koepka. If Lowry can continue his strong play in the final round, he will have a chance to make history and become the first Irish golfer to win a major championship since Padraig Harrington in 2008.
