Argentina Beats Peru 2-0 in Copa América Group Stage Match

Messi Scores Twice to Give Argentina Perfect Record

Argentina continued their impressive run in the Copa América group stage with a 2-0 victory over Peru on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Lionel Messi scored both goals for Argentina, who now have a perfect 3-0 record in the tournament.

Messi's Magic

Messi opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a stunning free kick from just outside the penalty area. The Peruvian goalkeeper had no chance as Messi's shot curled into the top corner of the net. Messi then doubled Argentina's lead in the 28th minute with a clinical finish from inside the box. The Barcelona forward received a pass from Ángel Di María and slotted the ball past the keeper with ease.

Peru's Frustration

Peru had their chances to get back into the game but were unable to find the back of the net. Gianluca Lapadula had a great opportunity to equalize in the second half, but his shot was well saved by Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. Peru continued to press for a goal but were unable to break down Argentina's defense.

Argentina's Dominance

Argentina controlled the game for the majority of the 90 minutes and deserved their victory. They had more possession and created more chances than Peru. Messi was once again the star of the show, but Argentina also received strong performances from Di María, Martínez, and Rodrigo De Paul.

Up Next

Argentina will face Paraguay in their final group stage match on Monday night. Peru will face Uruguay on the same night. Both teams will be looking to secure a place in the knockout round.
