Delhi-Meerut Expressway to be diverted for Kanwar yatra starting July 27

Traffic advisory issued by Delhi Police

The Delhi Police on Sunday issued a traffic advisory regarding the elaborate arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra 2024, which is set to begin on Monday. The Kanwar Mela area has been divided into 14 super zones and 35 zones, and a large number of Kanwariyas are expected to reach Delhi.

In light of this, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be diverted for light motor vehicles, including four-wheeler private vehicles, light goods vehicles and autos, from July 21, 2024, 08:51 PM IST. A three-phase plan has been put in place for private cars, trucks and buses.

The traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Police outlines the following diversions:

1. Phase 1: From July 21, 2024, 08:51 PM IST to July 27, 2024, 11:59 PM IST, all light motor vehicles, including four-wheeler private vehicles, light goods vehicles and autos, will be diverted from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway at the Akshardham Temple.
2. Phase 2: From July 28, 2024, 12:00 AM IST to July 31, 2024, 11:59 PM IST, all trucks and buses will be diverted from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway at the Akshardham Temple.
3. Phase 3: From August 1, 2024, 12:00 AM IST to August 6, 2024, 11:59 PM IST, all light motor vehicles, including four-wheeler private vehicles, light goods vehicles and autos, will be diverted from the Delhi-Meerut Expressway at the Akshardham Temple.

Motorists are advised to follow the traffic advisory and use alternative routes during the Kanwar Yatra. Heavy traffic is expected, and motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
